Tradition Meets Modernity at Rickety Bridge Wine Estate

Located between the Dassenberg Mountain and the Franschhoek River, the vineyard blends perfectly into an almost picturesque panorama. Rickety Bridge is a winery with a long tradition. With a history going back to 1797, the estate and its legacy have been passed on to the Crosbie family from the UK.

This historic estate was originally part of the great La Provence farm given to French Huguenot farmers in 1694. Over the years the property was divided and the portion which is now Rickety Bridge was granted to Paulina De Villiers, one of the first female landowners in South Africa, in 1797.

  • Gorgeous stay at Rickety Bridge

    Beautiful location, excellent breakfast, attentiveness, amazing communication, and the most incredible staff. Martha looked after us from when we checked in until our last day checking out. The entire stay felt like you were visiting family instead of just staying at a guesthouse. The farm itself is beyond beautiful and so close to Franschhoek village. Of course, you have to go and enjoy your complimentary wine tasting as well.

  • Can’t imagine a better place to stay in Franschhoek

    The best part of the whole trip was Martha, who took great care of us from start to finish. It’s so nice being in the old Manor House with the thatched roof and cool wooden features. Perfect location. They lit the fire for us to enjoy in the sitting room and breakfast was amazing.
